PROM SEASON!

Prom is right around the corner! I already have my dress and shoes but I have yet to finalize my hair and makeup:( I am very indecisive and also nervous about the whole ordeal. I have folders on my desktop dedicated to my prom hair and makeup, every time I see a celebrity picture I like I pull it out and add it to the folder, and lemme tell you its pretty thick!

I bought my dress a few months back, a picture of it will be posted below. as you can see, it is dark blue with dark sequin/diamonds around the bust. I really love it! Once I tried it on I just knew it would be the one! But theres only one problem, although the dress looks great on, I dont know what colours I should do for makeup! HELP!! I typically stick with neutral colours (browns, beige) but I dont think that would go very well with the dark blue. But if I go with blue eyeshadow I feel like it might be a little bit overboard, what do you think?

I also dont know wether or not I should year my hair up or down. Im afraid if I wear it down and curly that the curls will fall and I will be left with limp lifeless hair by the end of the night, which is the LAST thing I want. But on the other hand, My hair doesn't look that great when it is up and I would really like to show of my new extensions. Leave a comment if you have gone to prom or any other special event and what your thoughts on hair are:)

As I have mentioned before, I get very intimidated by makeup artists. I always feel as though they are judging me and secretly laughing at me. But I am going to have to face my fear for prom, I need to get my makeup done professionally somewhere I think but Im not sure where. I have heard so many horror stories about ugly makeup and having to go home and redo it yourself.

I also dont know the etiquette of going to get your makeup done. Because I do my own makeup every day I have come up with little tips that help my makeup melt better into my skin and I know the dry parts of it and how it looks with certain colours. So do I tell my makeup artist all this? Do I bring her my usual foundation? DO I tell her I get oily but have dry patches? Oh there is just so much to think about! And on top of all that, I have no idea where I should go, I want a professional but I'm very particular to what I like and dislike as far as my makeup goes

Anyway's I think thats enough ranting for tonight. I wil leave you guys with a few of the pictures I was considering for my makeup followed by a couple pictures of what I would like to do with my hair. Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Hair Extensions

Its been a couple months but I am still craving some extensions! It seems like I notice them on girls more and more lately. I dont know if it's because I am looking for them more or if they are simply getting more popular?! But none the lessI still really want a pair!

I've been on the hunt for a while know so that I could get the perfect pair! Last month I saw a set of the Jessica Simpson clip in ones and I decided to go ahead and try them out. They are 18 inches, synthetic hair and pre curled. At first they looked great, they were shiny and soft and blended perfectly with my hair texture and colour. They were different then most in the way that they're is only one weft, that has around 6-8 clips and it clips all around the bottom back of your head. After a couple of outings with them they were completely ruined. They got completely fuzzy and hair was flying everywhere, knots started to form and overall it was just a mess. So needless to say I would not recommend them to anyone. Luckily I bought them at Winners so they were relatively cheap which makes me feel a bit better about the purchase. So after that happened I hung the creepy fake hair up and started my search again.

This time I decided to go big or go home. I did a lot of research, looked at other blogs, and review sites as well as a lot of the beauty gurus on youtube in search of the perfect set of extensions. I talked to a family friend who suggested that I go to Sally's and make my own but I dont think I'm at that level just yet. I decided to go with Hello Gorgeous Hair extensions. I watched some other Canadians on youtube who all vouched for the company and I also checked out the Facebook group to see what the consumers thought of the product and everything looked good. I wasn't entirely sure what colour I should get or if I should go with a combination but luckily I was able to post a picture of myself to the facebook page and the lovely Shannon (who deals with all of the people on facebook) got back to me quickly and suggested a combination that looks like it will be absolutely great! I'm hoping that my extensions will come in time for prom and around that same time I will post a more in depth review with the speciic pros and cons of the extensions. But for know I am really looking forward to getting the long luscious locks! I can't wait until I can curl my hair the Kardashian way! AHH I am beyond excited about all of this.!!

Review of Foundations

So I have recently been on a foundation purchasing spreee! I just yesterday picked up the Makeup forever's Satin Velvet+ in the colour 20 and about a week ago I bought the Nars Sheer Glow foundation in the colour Gobi. Both are 1 fluid ounce or 30mL. I do prefer the packaging of the Nars Sheer Glow MUCH more, it looks more luxurious and you are getting what you paid for. I bought MUFE (Makeup for ever) at my local SHoppers Drugmart for around 39.00 with taxes and the Nars sheer glow was slightly more expensive at around 45.00 with taxes at Sephora.

And I must say, I like them both very much. When I look at them side by side, there is quite a drastic difference in the colour which leads me to believe one looks better on my skin than the other but i cant seem to figure out which one. The Nars sheer glow looks much more naturally coloured and seems to have a bit of a yellow undertone. And the MUFE Matte velvet seems to be more of a reddy undertone, but maybe thats just my imaginaion.

The consistency of both of them is also very different MUFE is thicker, whereas the Nars is more liquidy; this is probably because MUFE is a medium to full coverage whereas Nars is a light to medium. I do find the Nars very buildable and easier to apply and blend. I have yet to apply either foundation with my hands but hope to do so soon. I have beem using them with the MAC 187 and the Sigma SS188, and both have worked very well. I may also try the beauty blender sponge and see how that goes. What got me attracted to the sheer glow was that it claimed "This Sheer Glow Foundation enhances, without masking, your overall natural complexion The weightless formula hydrates the skin while complexion brightening properties improve skin brightness, radiance, and texture, leaving skin with a luminous, sensual glow" so I was all in! A brighter looking complexion has yet to come but it said with continual use for 28 days it will, so I guess I will try it!:) MUFE matte velvet promised a " shine controlling, oil-free, water-resistant, complete coverage liquid foundation" that will "Hide imperfections, even out skin tone, and mattifie with a non-oily, perfectly powdered finish. The result is flawless and lasts for hours." I do believe that this is a true statement.

With good, comes bad so here is what I dislike about both of the foundations. The makeup forever Matte Velvet+ has great coverage but I do find that by the end of the day, it has left my T-zone oily. And as I look at a swatch of it in natural light, I do find it looks a little reddy orange, which is not good. As for the NARS Sheer Glow foundation, the downside is that it comes without the pump. Do not be fooled when you go and try it out in the store, the actual bottle you buy does not have a pump.
So if I were to suggest one of these foundations to someone I would hands down suggest the NARS SHEER GLOW foundation:) Hope this helped!

Christmas Wishlist!:) First Edition!:)

Christmas is fast approaching and there still isn’t snow on the ground! I love it! It usually gets really cold and snowy here but I’m hoping for a green christmas! Anyway, because its getting so close, I thought it was necessary to show you guys just what I am dying for!:)
So first and for most, I will not get all of this stuff, nor do I expect it all but it is nice to dream:)
This year, more than others, I asked for a lot of makeup and jewelry. Typically I will ask for clothes and money and be more then happy with that. But as I’m getting more into makeup, Im discovering more and more things and I would just really like to expand my collection:) Jewelry has always been a love of mine, I wear a necklace basically everyday and feel naked without one. My ring collection is also slowly but surely beginning to grow in size.
This is just my first edition, I am going to do 1 of these each week:)

So lets start off with jewlery. I have recently discovered Betsey Johnson and I just love her jewelry:) Unfortunately I dont know where i can find it in Canada, and the shipping costs online are just to expensive!:( But I do love how unique and quirky her stuff is. .
So heres what I want from that site!:)

And now for Tiffany and Co, love this stuff, its so simple and classis. Their pieces are expensive but well worth it.
This is the Elsa peretti Open Heart Necklace, SO CUTE! I love her stuff

Along with the necklace she has a ring, which is adorable! It is the Elsa Perretti Open heart Ring. This is probably my favourite piece of jewelry ever!

And as far as makeup goes, I really want the Sigma SS 188, small duo Fibre Brush, SS 224 Tapered Blending Brush and the SS 239 I dont have any Sigma Brushes but have heard nothing but good reviews on them.
What's on your christmas list?!:)

Another Mac Purchase:) And some Brushes

I just got these things today, so I cant really do a review on them but once I've began to use them I will let you know how their working:)
So first off, I got an eyeshadow in Bisque, its a matte eyeshadow and is very light basically skin colour. It is extremely soft and very pigmented. The only thing is, I don't have an all over eyeshadow brush ( i know, weird) so I use my fingers. And when using my fingers it requires lots and lots of layers, for some colour to show through. But it is a nice all over neutral shadow.
Next, I got The MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Medium, this is my first time buying it so I'm excited to try it out, if anyone knows anything about it, feel free to tell me.
And lastly I got MACs studio Finish Concealer in NC15, very creamy I really like it! But I do feel like its going to run out quickly, just because it is really creamy, which will make me use more of it:P Once again if you have anything to say about this product, feel free to leave a comment:)

From Left to right- Mineralize Skinfinish, Studio Finish Concealer, Bisque

So as for brushes, I went to my local shoppers drug-mart to buy them, because I had a bunch of points and therefor could buy around 55 dollars worth in stuff. So basically I was looking for something that I could apply the concealer with and also something to buff in my powder. I ended up with two Lise Watier Brushes, which were very reasonably priced:) I was going to get smashbox ones but I just couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money on brushes! I know people will tell me time and time again that brushes are an investment and if i buy a good quality set it will last me forever but I just cant ever see that happening:P Anyways, I got a kabuki brush and a blending brush.
The kabuki brush was looking fine and dandy until I washed it... when purple water started coming out. I don't know why or how that happened, I'm thinking either its the dye from the brush or maybe i took a tester? either way, it was weird, other then that its a great brush, very dense and I would recommend it to anyone. Now, the blending brush will be used as a concealer brush and i really like it, its big and soft so pretty good:)

Review- LUSH Snow Fairy

You can click to enlarge this and see the sparkles!!

So the very first Lush product I have ever purchased was the Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel. And I absolutely LOVE it! The smell is just wonderful! Its very candyish and also has a kind of strawberry banana scent. I use just a little bit on a loofah and its very nice, it lathers almost immediately and fills the bathroom with a heavenly scent. I have also tried just squirting a little in my hand and rubbing it all over but it doesn't lather as well that way and also doesn't leave the scent lingering on your body for a long time. But I do find that with a loofah the smell stays for a good couple of hours, I do with they made a body lotion though, that would be wonderful!
By far, my favourite thing about it is that it is very gentle on my sensitive skin; with a lot of cleansers I find myself covered in red bumps the next day but this one doesn't do that to me, which is a great relief. I will definitely continue to buy this product year after year, and it has also made me more aware of Lush. I think I will try out a couple more of their products, I am allergic to bubble bath and things like that though so I may just be sticking to soaps and shower gels:)
Anyways, I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a sweet, happy, fresh shower gel and is willing to spend a little bit extra. I bought the 500ml and that came out to 20$ but I'm pretty sure they come in smaller sizes.
Oh and I forgot to mention that their is a small gathering of sparkles at the bottom of the container, this worried me at first but i dont think it will be a problem:)
The next thing on my wish-list is "Honey I Washed the Kids" soap, I hope your listening Santa!:)
